I am a comic reviewer for www.comiccritique.com. I enjoy reading mainstream and independent comics. I have interviewed various artists, and writers in the comic community. such as Joe Kubert, Frank Beddor, and Nate Barlow, and others to come. I have been a comic collector for over thirty years. I still have the same excitement today when I read my first comic title. I hope to present the same vigor to the readers of this blog. JD

The compilation from the stars!!

Fletcher Hanks: I shall destroy all the civilized Planets!

Publisher: Fantagraphics

Author/Editor: Paul Karasik

Artist: Fletcher Hanks

An unknown comic artist of the Golden Age is acknowledged!

By John L. Daniels, Jr.

I am a golden age comic fanatic; although I do not own a definitive collection of golden age comic periodicals, I have admired these books from reprints and dusty findings from other avenues. My favorite artist from the golden age was Alex Raymond. Alex was the artist of Flash Gordon comic strips. The second was the artist of the Buck Rogers in the 25th century comic strip, Richard Calkins. Now unbeknownst to me was someone that I never knew about until seeing this fantastic book edited and Afterword, by Paul Karasik. The artist name is Fletcher Hanks.

I was truly amazed at this artisan’s artwork. The details he displayed in the panels were awe inspiring. All the stories involve strong characterizations in particular the charecters Stardust and Fatomah. The Fletcher Hanks stories from the golden age are point stricken with “what consequences would happen to you if you are an evil-doer.”

Paul Karasik’s Afterword is one of the most enduring and creative that I have read for any biography. Paul is a native Washingtonian; he has established a creative writing style and a universal appeal for anyone reading this book. This book is great for any fan of science fiction comics or just in general.

This is what comic books are all about, an imaginative artist drawing imaginative characters for the readers to be enthralled. Because of Mr. Karasik’s perseverance and dedication to the compilation of this incredible artist, readers will now get an opportunity to see the works of Fletcher Hanks.

Fletcher Hanks: I shall destroy all the civilized planets! Deserves an inquisitive rating of five.
